The voice of IT Leadership in the commercial maritime industry

For years, maritime decarbonisation has been shaped by assumptions, estimates and supplier claims. ReFlow’s mission, says Chief Commercial Officer Mogens Thyssen, is to replace this with evidence. “Our mantra is data-driven decarbonisation: if you cannot measure it, you cannot change it,” he explains, noting that the company’s foundation is in the maritime sector and witnessed first-hand the gap between sustainability ambitions and verifiable data.

Capital Clean Energy Carriers Corp. has ordered three latest specification LNG carriers for delivery in 2028 and 2029. The investment reflects how shipowners are aligning fleet planning, digital efficiency and long-term charter strategy with the next phase of LNG market growth.

Thales has secured a major UK defence contract to deliver AI-powered remote command centres for Royal Navy mine countermeasures. The programme highlights how digital command, autonomy and data-driven control are reshaping how complex maritime operations are managed from shore.

Where operational excellence meets net zero ambition

CMA CGM will physically bunker the biofuel across its vessels, while DHL allocates the environmental benefits to customers through a Book and Claim approach. This allows shippers to reduce the carbon intensity of their supply chains even when individual cargoes are not carried on the specific vessels using the biofuel. According to DHL, the use of sustainable marine fuels can cut greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% compared with conventional fuels.

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has completed full-load ethanol operation testing on its HiMSEN dual-fuel engine. For shipowners, the development adds a credible alternative fuel pathway that builds flexibility into future fleet decisions.
